Well hey look, it's 2012! Every year I marvel at the fact that the holidays have passed us so quickly. It always seems like such a long wait until they get here, and now it's the start of a new year. I was fortunate enough to spend the last couple of days of the year in San Antonio, Texas with my mom, dad, sister and grandma. As you may remember, I'm pretty much a die-hard football fan when it comes to the University of Washington, so of course I had to go. The huskies were chosen to play Baylor in the Alamo Bowl this year. Baylor is ranked 12th in the nation and their quarterback just won the Heisman Trophy. Needless to say, I wasn't expecting a victory. To my surprise, the huskies put up an amazing fight and ended up losing in the fourth quarter 67-56, the highest scoring bowl game in history. Our quarterback, Keith Price, pretty much killed it and I'm thankful that he's only a sophomore. I can't wait to see what the huskies pull out next year! Another highlight of this trip was visiting a new place. The only time I've spent in Texas up until now is in airports, so it was fun to take a mini-adventure somewhere new. San Antonio has a river that flows right through the city. They've taken advantage of this and built what is called "The Riverwalk." It's filled with Mexican restaurants, quaint bars, and boat tours that go right through it all. I loved the Spanish architecture and colorful umbrellas. It was also over 70 degrees during my visit and I welcomed that much-needed t-shirt weather. Everything was in walking distance, which made the trip that much easier. I also got to visit the Alamo, an old mission that sits right in the heart of downtown. Here are a few of my favorite photos from the trip.
