discovery park senior photos | andrea

It's that time of year again! We are now accepting applications for our Senior Ambassador program. What is a Senior Ambassador, you ask? Every year we choose 8-10 fantastic students to represent our business. In return, they get a free 1.5 hour session within 30 miles of Seattle, a print collection valued at $380 after three of their friends book a session with us, 20% off all additional products, a complimentary yearbook photo, and 5 custom images for sharing on social media. All applicants must be a senior in the class of 2017 and have their application completed by April 8. We will make an announcement shortly thereafter. For more information and the link to the application, visit our website.

And on that note, I'm excited to share a beautiful example of one of our Seattle sessions from last summer. Sun-drenched fields of grass, a flowing, skirt, and soft, cool trails. Andrea's session was stunning last year and we wish her all the best as she graduates this spring.

discovery park engagement | steve & jenni

This summer I've spent A LOT of time traveling. Between shooting weddings all over the state of Washington (one weekend I went from Port Angeles on Saturday to Leavenworth on Sunday), traveling back to Jackson Hole multiple times, and hiking deep into the mountains for engagement sessions, it's been just a little bit crazy. While I do love a shooting in new places that I've never been (it's incredibly inspiring!), I can always appreciate shooting close to home. Sometimes it's easy to take Seattle's amazing views and scenery for granted. There are pockets of pretty stuff everywhere and all it takes is a little bit of exploring to find them. And on that note, meet Steve and Jenni. College sweethearts from Boise, Idaho, work brought these two to Seattle and they are loving the downtown Seattle lifestyle. Upon moving to Seattle, they got an apartment that backs right up to Pike Place and enjoy a minimal commute to their downtown Seattle jobs. Their wedding will be next September in Boise, but they wanted to show their family back home a little taste of the Northwest through their engagement session photos. We started out on the rooftop of their apartment and then took a quick jaunt to Discovery Park, one of Seattle's little gems. We were having such a good time we took a hike down to the lighthouse together and watched the sun go down. Right on the cusp of fall, I was going crazy over the romantic golden light! I had the best time photographing these two and am really looking forward to their wedding next September out in Boise. I can only imagine their family and friends are just as fabulous as they are.

san juan island engagement session | dominic and ellen

One word comes to mind when I think of Dominic and Ellen's engagement session on San Juan Island - gracious. Dominic and Ellen proposed the idea of doing their engagement photos on San Juan Island and I couldn't help but jump at the idea. Not only did we get the opportunity to travel to a place we'd never been, but these two were simply the most welcoming hosts to us. We stayed on beachfront property in a beautiful home that Dom's family had built on the island. If you've never been to San Juan Island - go!! It's so lovely. With Dom and Ellen as our tour guides, we got to experience a perfect sampling of everything San Juan Island has to offer. They showed us lighthouses, views of Mt. Baker and Canada, cider-tasting, the quaint little town of Roche Harbor, and the most incredible sunset view. I can't thank them enough for what wonderful hosts they were throughout the whole weekend. While I could go on and on about everything we saw, I think it's best to let the photos speak for themselves on this one.
