Field Trip? Heck yes. The idea behind Photo Field Trip is pretty rad, like when you're in elementary school - go on a field trip, have fun, and also learn something. David and I spent last weekend camping in El Capitan Canyon, California getting inspired, learning, taking photos, and adventuring. It's kind of really hard to pinpoint what was so awesome about this trip. We learned some amazing tips from some of the top photographers in the industry, captured creative magic by lighting off smoke bombs and throwing colored powder in the air, roamed fields dripping with late afternoon California beauty, danced side by side in a dusty tent with our new awesome friends, and returned home with a vision of what we really want to accomplish through photography this year. Seriously if you're a photographer needing a pick-me-up in your business or just want to meet some amazing people, go. You will come away feeling so full. Oh yah, we also took some photos while we were there.

I love this couple! Daniel and Helena have known each other since high school but eventually moved down to the LA area so Helena can pursue her career in costume design. Daniel popped the question in April when they were back home in Washington, and everyone was thrilled. I was down in San Diego for my sister's wedding, so we thought it was only fitting to take some engagement photos in the state where they've been building their lives together for the past few years. Congrats Daniel and Helena, and I can't wait for your wedding next summer!
